The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has called on the people of the South-East to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, stating that Tinubu deserves a second term based on the achievements of his administration over the past two years.

Kalu made the remarks in Umuahia during separate courtesy visits from the Abia State chapter of the Tinubu Mandate Support Group (TMSG), led by Hon. Armstrong Okoronkwo, and members of Club 17 Initiative, led by Prince George Nnanna.

Speaking to the TMSG delegation, the Deputy Speaker described President Tinubu as a progressive leader committed to building a legacy of positive change across Nigeria. He commended the group’s efforts in mobilizing support for Tinubu, urging Igbos to work closely with the Southwest to deliver a resounding victory for the president in 2027.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a good product to be sold for a second term,” Kalu said. “I believed in him long ago, even before we met. He supported me early in my political journey. He is intentional about developing Nigeria, making shifts that have never been done before. Our responsibility is to spread the good news of his achievements.”

Kalu stressed that the South-East should invest politically where progress is evident, emphasizing that Tinubu’s government has fostered greater inclusion and relevance for the Igbo people.

Addressing members of Club 17 Initiative, Kalu also expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would win the 2027 governorship election in Abia State. He praised the group’s commitment to strengthening the party at the grassroots and assured them of his continued support.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Tinubu Mandate Support Group, Hon. Okoronkwo, lauded the Deputy Speaker for his performance at the National Assembly. He pledged that the group would intensify grassroots efforts to promote Tinubu’s administration and secure his re-election.

“Our focus is door-to-door sensitization, telling people about the projects President Tinubu is delivering for the South-East and Abia State in particular,” Okoronkwo said. “We need your support to kickstart a strong campaign for his re-election.”

In his remarks, Prince George Nnanna of Club 17 Initiative informed the Deputy Speaker that the group had successfully completed the nomination of peace marshals in line with the Peace in South East Project (PISE-P) objectives. He assured Kalu of the group’s unwavering support for both his political ambitions and the APC.
