Iwobi shines as Fulham boost European hopes with comeback win

Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi continued his fine Premier League form with a brilliant assist to inspire Fulham’s dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday evening.

In a tense Matchday 34 encounter, the Nigerian international set up the equaliser to spark Fulham’s late surge.

The 28-year-old midfielder, who played 87 minutes before being substituted, now has 15 goal contributions—nine goals and six assists—in 39 appearances across all competitions this season.

Southampton initially took the lead in the 14th minute through Jack Stephens’ header, but Fulham grew stronger as the match progressed.

After missing several first-half chances, the visitors eventually broke through when Emile Smith Rowe fired home following Iwobi’s pass, with a deflection helping the ball past Aaron Ramsdale.

Fulham sealed the win in stoppage time when Ryan Sessegnon headed in Adama Traoré’s cross, securing a vital three points.

The victory lifts Fulham above Brighton into eighth place, keeping their European qualification hopes alive with four matches remaining. Fans will be hoping Iwobi’s magic continues as the race for Europe heats up.
