2027: ‘You’re either in APC or out’ — Zamfara gov tells Wike

Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has asked Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to clarify his political allegiance ahead of the 2027 elections.

Lawal said Wike could not simultaneously support the All Progressives Congress (APC) and candidates of other political parties while leading the Rainbow Coalition, a cross-party platform backing President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The governor spoke in an interview with Channels Television’s Inside Sources on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Lawal said the position of APC governors was that Wike should either identify fully with the ruling party or reconsider his involvement in the coalition.

“Our message is very clear: be on one side, you can’t be on two sides,” he said.

“If you are in APC, please come out and support the APC, not you are supporting APC here and you are supporting some other political parties somewhere else.”

Lawal said the governors would maintain their position, adding that he intended to raise the matter with Tinubu when the President returns from his working vacation abroad.

“It’s something I will discuss with the President when he comes back,” he said.
