Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has appealed to aspirants and members of the All Progressives Congress to maintain peace during the party’s National Assembly primary elections in the state.

The governor made the appeal on Friday during a stakeholders’ meeting with members of the APC National Assembly Election Committee at the party secretariat in Akure.

According to him, the state has built a reputation for peaceful elections and party members must avoid acts capable of disrupting the process.

“There should be no rancour. There should be no fight. This is our party affair. Everyone should cooperate with one another,” Aiyedatiwa said.

The governor also assured aspirants that his administration would not interfere in the exercise, adding that security operatives had been deployed across wards to maintain law and order during the primaries.

Aiyedatiwa also directed eligible APC members to report at their ward centres by 8am with valid party membership cards, noting that Permanent Voter Cards would not be required for participation in the direct primary exercise.

Earlier, the Chairman of the National Assembly Election Committee, Iboroma Harry Dabibi, assured party members of a transparent and credible process, saying accredited members would queue behind posters of their preferred aspirants across the 203 wards in the state.
