Tinubu mourns Aso Rock media Assistant Director Peter Onwubuariri

President Bola Tinubu has mourned the death of Peter Onwubuariri, Assistant Director, Media, at the Presidential Villa, who died after a prolonged illness.

Onwubuariri, a veteran journalist and public servant, was described by the President as a major loss to the Presidency, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the media community and the country.

The late journalist joined the Presidential Villa in 2014 after serving as NAN’s North American Correspondent. He subsequently worked with the media teams of three successive administrations led by former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari, and President Tinubu.

During his career, Onwubuariri covered major national and international issues, including foreign affairs, telecommunications, politics and finance.

Before his posting to the Villa, he rose through the ranks at NAN to become an Assistant Editor-in-Chief, where he contributed to the agency’s editorial and journalistic operations.

Tinubu, in a condolence message issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described Onwubuariri as a dedicated journalist whose professionalism and calm disposition earned him the respect of colleagues and associates.

“His years of service to three administrations are a testament to his competence, integrity and commitment to duty,” the President said.

Tinubu said the deceased’s contributions to journalism and national service would be remembered, adding that his death was a significant loss to the Presidential Villa, the media fraternity and Nigeria.
