The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), has called off its strike, offering much-needed relief to students and the academic community.

The suspension of the industrial action was confirmed by the union’s chairman, Comrade Bola Oshodi, in a telephone interview on Monday.

Oshodi said the decision was taken in the overall interest of the institution and its students after reaching an understanding with the university management.

“For now, we have suspended the strike. Everything is based on the agreement we had with the university management. Management has been very supportive, and we understand,” he stated.

The chairman acknowledged that the union is still being owed one month’s salary but explained that ASUU decided to suspend the strike out of commitment to the system and the wellbeing of students.
