Abducted Ondo worshippers regain freedom after N5m ransom payment

Four worshippers of the Celestial Church of Christ abducted in Uso community of Ondo State have regained their freedom after paying their abductors five million naira.
According to verified sources, the victims were released on Monday evening at Ilado community after spending several days in captivity.
A source close to the families confirmed the development on Tuesday night, stating anonymously that the worshippers were reunited with their loved ones upon release.
The source said, “The worshippers have been freed after we were able to raise N5m for the abductors. They are now back home, though some of them are receiving medical attention due to the trauma they went through.”
On the day of the kidnap, the source disclosed that the gunmen invaded the church premises and whisked the victims away to an unknown destination.
Western Post gathered that the kidnappers initially demanded for N100m but later reduced the ransom to N5m after negotiations.
Reacting to the issue, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, confirmed the release of the victims and assured that the command would provide further details on the incident.
