Accident involving returnee Kano State contingent to Gateway Games claims 20 lives

Tragedy struck on Saturday when a fatal accident involving members of the Kano State contingent to the just-concluded National Sports Festival, Gateway Games, claimed 20 lives.
According to reports, the Kano State Sports Commission bus conveying the contingent was involved in the mishap near Dakatsalle town, about 50 kilometers from Kano.
The Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, Umar Bala Fagge, stated that the bus swerved off the road and plunged off a bridge, resulting in the immediate death of several occupants.
Twenty people, including athletes, journalists, medical personnel, and administrators, have been confirmed dead. Others who sustained various degrees of injuries have been taken to Kura General Hospital.
