Actress Funke Akindele slams Air Peace over delay at London airport

Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has criticised Air Peace over the alleged poor treatment of passengers stranded at London Gatwick Airport following a flight delay.

In a post shared on X on Friday, Akindele accused the airline of leaving travellers, including elderly Nigerians and families, without proper communication, food, luggage access or accommodation.

According to her, passengers had been stranded since early morning, with little information provided about the situation or next steps, despite initial assurances from the airline.

“Air Peace, this is unacceptable. Passengers (including elderly people) have been stranded since 6:30am at London Gatwick Airport with no proper communication. After hours of delay, we were told there was a bird strike and promised a hotel. Hours later, people are still sitting at baggage claim hungry, exhausted, and without their bags,” she said.

She added that the situation had taken a toll on vulnerable passengers, noting that elderly travellers and families were left struggling without adequate support.

The development triggered reactions online, with several Nigerians criticising the airline over recurring complaints of delays, poor customer service and lack of communication.

Responding, Air Peace apologised to affected passengers, stating that the disruption was caused by factors beyond its control and reaffirming its commitment to safety and operational efficiency.

The airline added that efforts were ongoing to assist passengers, though it did not immediately confirm when the delayed flight would depart or whether all affected travellers had been provided with accommodation.
