Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Monday flagged off two key road projects as part of efforts to improve infrastructure and enhance connectivity across the state.
The projects include the dualization of Ila Township Road and the commencement of the second phase of the Osogbo-Ikirun-Ila Odo road, which extends to the Kwara State boundary.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremonies in Ila and Ikirun, Governor Adeleke reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritizing road infrastructure, despite economic challenges. He assured residents that no project under his leadership would be abandoned.
The governor disclosed that the Ila Township dualization spans 3.5 kilometers in its first phase and is expected to be completed within 10 months.
He also highlighted achievements in road development across the state, noting that over 175 kilometers of road projects have been completed or are ongoing. These include the Ilesa road dualization (78% complete), the Ile-Ife flyover (75%), Oke-Fia flyover (95%), LAMECO flyover (55%), and the completed Oke Gada bridge.
Governor Adeleke stated that his administration completed the first phase of the Osogbo-Ikirun-Ila Odo road project—originally awarded in 2012—within his first 100 days in office.
“The second phase we are flagging off today is nearly equal in length to what was delivered in 12 years. By the grace of God, we plan to complete it within 12 months,” he declared.
