Adeleke renews invitation to Oyetola camp for Tinubu’s re-election
By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has renewed his invitation to former Governor and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, and his political associates to join the state’s Presidential Campaign Council, urging them to set aside their differences and work for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.
The governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, made the appeal on Monday during a radio programme amid controversy over the inauguration of the Osun chapter of the campaign council.
Rasheed said Adeleke had personally reached out to Oyetola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji; APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru; former Governor Bisi Akande; former APC National Secretary, Otunba Iyiola Omisore; and the Southwest Coordinator, Professor Sola Adeyeye, among other political leaders.
He said some of the leaders responded to the governor’s calls and mobilised their associates for the inauguration, while Akande, Adeyeye and other APC leaders attended the event in support of Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Explaining the circumstances surrounding the inauguration, Rasheed said the campaign council was constituted at the national level and Adeleke proceeded with the exercise following a directive from Abuja. He added that the urgency of the assignment informed the governor’s decision to contact political leaders directly.
“The news is that Mr Governor is now again calling on former Governor Oyetola and all their people to join the council because their names were prominently displayed. He is extending that invitation again formally,” he said.
Rasheed added that Adeleke was reopening communication channels with the affected leaders and that the council would soon establish subcommittees to coordinate campaign activities. He insisted that the governor’s aim was to unite political stakeholders in Osun behind Tinubu rather than pursue personal or partisan interests.
He urged political leaders to move beyond disagreements over invitations and participation in the inauguration, saying Adeleke wanted Osun to contribute significantly to Tinubu’s re-election bid, with an ambition to secure 1.5 million votes for the president in the state.
