Afikuyomi named Tinubu-Hamzat campaign advisory council chairman

Former federal lawmaker, Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi, has been appointed chairman of the Advisory Council of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu/Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat Independent Campaign Group ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The appointment was ratified during a strategic meeting in Lagos as the group moved to strengthen its structures ahead of the planned flag-off of its presidential campaign.

The meeting was attended by key political figures, including Sen. Wasiu Sanni Eshinlokun, National Director-General of the PBAT-KOH ICG; Dr. Seyi Bamigbade, who represented the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi; and Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu Dullar, the principal director-general of the group in Lagos State.

Addressing the meeting, Eshinlokun said the group was focused on building an effective grassroots mobilisation structure ahead of the 2027 election.

He said the strategy would involve ward-to-ward mobilisation and the deployment of polling-booth canvassers to expand the group’s reach and strengthen its presence across the country.

Eshinlokun added that the group would leverage its network to mobilise millions of voters in support of Tinubu and his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, with emphasis on translating its grassroots support into electoral strength.

Similarly, Bamigbade said Afikuyomi’s appointment followed the directives and leadership vision of Olusi, adding that the Advisory Council would provide strategic direction and coordinate the various support networks backing Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The group said the appointment and other organisational measures were part of efforts to strengthen its operations and grassroots structures ahead of the formal commencement of the 2027 presidential campaign.
