Aiyedatiwa advocates people-centred justice, orders renovation of courts

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Wednesday called for a justice system that is fair, accessible and reflective of the needs of ordinary Nigerians.

He made the call at the grand finale of the Nigerian Bar Association Law Week organised by the Okitipupa Branch in Akure, stressing the need for reforms in the justice sector.

Aiyedatiwa noted that the rule of law must not be detached from the realities of the people, adding that justice should be timely, impartial and responsive to citizens.

“The justice system must not be distant, delayed or selective. Nigerians deserve a system that works for everyone, regardless of status,” he said.

He stressed that the law should serve as a tool for fairness and equity, rather than merely existing as a set of rigid rules.

To this effect, Aiyedatiwa ordered the renovation of courts in Okitipupa, assuring that his administration would continue to support the judiciary despite its autonomy.

He further urged legal practitioners to uphold integrity and professionalism, reaffirming his government’s commitment to strengthening institutions and improving access to justice across the state.
