Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has commended the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for its contributions to regional development over the past 25 years.
Speaking at a thanksgiving service held at St. Thomas Anglican Church in Akure to mark the Commission’s silver jubilee, Aiyedatiwa, a former NDDC board member, praised the agency for fulfilling its mandate. He also expressed satisfaction with the performance of the current leadership under Chief Samuel Ogbuku.
He acknowledged the Commission’s developmental strides, especially in Ondo’s oil-producing Ilaje and Ese-Odo Local Government Areas, noting that the people have benefited significantly from NDDC’s interventions.
The governor lauded the decision to hold the symbolic service in Akure and appreciated the presence of NDDC board members and management staff who attended the event.
He also highlighted his administration’s efforts through the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), which he said has been restructured and repositioned for better service delivery.
“Through OSOPADEC, we have implemented projects that have improved healthcare, education, infrastructure, and overall economic growth in oil-producing communities,” Aiyedatiwa stated.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the well-being of the people in these areas and urged continued collaboration with federal agencies for sustainable development.
Aiyedatiwa also thanked President Bola Tinubu for supporting the Niger Delta and repositioning the NDDC to ensure accountability and effective service delivery.
