Aiyedatiwa’s record strengthens Tinubu’s 2027 chances in Ondo — NNPP chair

The Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party in Ondo State, Pastor Peter Olagookun, has said Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s performance and growing political structure have enhanced President Bola Tinubu’s chances of winning the state in the 2027 presidential election.

Olagookun, a former spokesperson for the Inter-Party Advisory Council in the state, stated this in Akure, noting that the governor’s political influence had continued to expand across the 18 local government areas.

He claimed that the structure being built by Aiyedatiwa had given the All Progressives Congress a strong advantage, making it difficult for opposition presidential candidates to secure substantial votes in the state.

“I have always said that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has performed, and I have never hidden my position because I am only stating what I believe to be the truth,” Olagookun said.

The NNPP chairman also praised the governor’s social intervention programmes, particularly the monthly N20,000 allowance for residents aged 70 and above, describing the initiative as one of the measures capable of boosting public confidence in the administration.

He described Aiyedatiwa as “a gentleman full of leadership skills and a good leader,” adding that the governor had contributed to deepening democratic participation through his OUR EASE Agenda.

On the 2027 presidential election, Olagookun said the NNPP had yet to adopt any candidate, stressing that the party would make its position known after due consultation.

Olagookun, however, expressed optimism about the NNPP’s chances in the legislative elections, saying the party had fielded credible candidates for the National Assembly and was confident of victory in several constituencies.
