The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating a conducive business environment that attracts investors and fosters economic growth in the state.
Governor Eno made this known on Friday during the inauguration of a new branch of Premium Trust Bank in Uyo, the state capital.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Senator (Dr.) Akon Eyakenyi, Governor Eno emphasized that peace and security remain the cornerstone of his administration’s strategy to attract investments, boost tourism, and ensure economic prosperity for the people of Akwa Ibom.
Highlighting the critical role of financial institutions in economic development, the governor expressed delight in Premium Trust Bank’s commitment to youth empowerment and its support for Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs).
He described the bank’s presence in Akwa Ibom as a testament to the state’s efforts to promote the Ease of Doing Business.
“As someone from the private sector, I understand the importance of creating an enabling environment for investors to thrive while generating jobs for our youth and increasing the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). The establishment of this bank is a direct response to our initiatives in fostering a business-friendly climate,” Governor Eno stated.
He added, “We are committed to sustaining the peace and security for which Akwa Ibom is renowned, as this atmosphere is crucial for economic growth. Our vision of expanding the middle class and driving SME growth necessitates strong partnerships with the financial sector.”
Governor Eno charged the Board and Management of Premium Trust Bank to uphold excellence and quality service delivery, expressing confidence that the Uyo branch would become one of the bank’s most profitable locations.
The Group Managing Director/CEO of Premium Trust Bank, Emmanuel Emefienim, lauded Governor Eno’s focus on inclusive governance and a robust economic environment, which he said had inspired confidence among investors.
Emefienim noted that Premium Trust Bank has been the fastest-growing financial institution in Africa and Nigeria for three consecutive years, and the Uyo branch will bring world-class financial solutions to businesses and individuals in the state.
The event featured goodwill messages from the Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Linus Nkan, and the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, represented by the Executive Director (Projects) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Sir Victor Antai.
