Alaafin congratulates acting IGP Disu, lauds style of leadership

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, has congratulated Tunji Disu on his appointment as the new acting Inspector General of Police, while praising his career as a masterclass in dedication, patriotism, and strategic leadership.
In a congratulatory message delivered through his media aide, Oba Owoade described Disu’s elevation as “a resounding testament to his unyielding dedication, professionalism, and sterling integrity.”
The monarch stated that the new acting IGP assumes responsibility for both the goodwill and challenges of the Nigeria Police Force, stressing that his performance will significantly impact ordinary citizens and the nation at large.
He urged Disu to write his name in gold by providing Nigerians with the reformed police force they have been craving for while also acknowledging that his career has been “a shining beacon of courage and resilience so far.”
The monarch further highlighted the importance of bridging the gap between the police and communities to foster a safer, citizen-friendly environment.
He said, “As you step into this commanding role, may your leadership continue to prioritize the protection of the innocent and the steadfast upholding of the rule of law.
“The nation looks to you for a safer tomorrow, and I am confident your strategic vision will guide the Nigeria Police Force toward proactive policing, enhanced security, and public trust.”
The paramount ruler also called on Disu to establish effective human rights desks across all police stations, commands, and zonal commands nationwide, with qualified personnel to address cases of human rights abuses.
