Annunciation Catholic College wins 11th NILDS national quiz competition in Edo

Annunciation Catholic College has emerged winner of the 11th National Quiz Competition on Legislature and Democracy held in Benin City, Edo State, scoring 65 points.
Fugar Mixed Secondary School came second with 55 points, while Niger College placed third in the competition organised by the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), in collaboration with the Edo State Ministry of Education.
The Commissioner for Education, Dr Washington Osifo, represented by the Director of School Support Services, Abudukadiri Ikoghode, commended the participating students and urged them to deepen their knowledge of democracy, constitutional governance, elections and legislative procedures.
Six secondary schools drawn from the Edo North, Central and South senatorial districts participated in the contest, which featured three elimination rounds to determine the state’s representative at the zonal stage.
Osifo said the competition would enhance the students’ critical thinking, confidence and teamwork, while promoting responsible citizenship and preparing them for leadership.
The Director-General of NILDS, Prof. Abubakar Sulaiman, represented by Omonigho Ogbewe, also commended the students for their performance.
Annunciation Catholic College will represent Edo State at the zonal competition scheduled for October 22, ahead of the national grand finale on November 9, 2026, in Abuja.
