The Oyo State Government has announced the commencement of its 2026 bursary screening exercise for indigenes in their final year at public tertiary institutions across the country.

The exercise, organised by the Oyo State Scholarship Board, is scheduled to run from Wednesday, November 11, to Friday, November 27, 2026, according to the timetable released by the board.

The Secretary of the board, Niyi Akinyanju, said only applicants whose online submissions had been reviewed and found to meet the registration requirements were shortlisted for screening. He clarified that completing the online registration did not automatically qualify applicants for the exercise.

To improve accessibility, the board has introduced physical and online screening options. However, students studying in institutions within the South-West geopolitical zone must attend physical screening, irrespective of their state of residence, while those studying outside the zone can choose either option.

Applicants who opt for online screening are required to keep their registered telephone numbers active and accessible throughout their scheduled dates to enable the board to contact them for verification and further clarification. Meanwhile, candidates attending physically are expected to report at Room 83, Oyo State Scholarship Board, Ministry of Education, Secretariat, Ibadan, by 10 a.m. daily.

According to the timetable, screening for college students will hold from November 11 to 12, while Higher National Diploma (HND) applicants are scheduled for November 13 to 17. University students will be screened from November 18 to 26, with clinical and allied courses scheduled for November 25 and 26, while applicants in maritime and aviation programmes will have their screening on November 27.

Shortlisted applicants are required to present their JAMB admission letters, local government identification letters, final-year course registration forms, recent passport photographs, school identification cards and evidence of annual FOSSU payment for verification. The board urged candidates to ensure that their documents were complete and authentic, adding that screening would take place on weekdays only, with no sessions scheduled for Saturdays and Sundays.

The board advised applicants to adhere strictly to the approved timetable and screening guidelines, noting that the online option was introduced to reduce administrative bottlenecks and improve access to the programme. The state government reaffirmed its commitment to educational development and supporting the academic aspirations of its indigenes through bursary and scholarship initiatives.
