By Osho Olatomiwa
The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Ayodeji Olawunmi Badejo, has urged staff across faculties and schools to support her administration’s strategic agenda for strengthening academic excellence, research, infrastructure and institutional development.
Badejo made the appeal during familiarisation visits to faculties, schools and other units of the university on October 20 and 21, 2026, to engage staff and assess their developmental needs.
She emphasised teamwork, collective responsibility and effective communication, urging staff to align their activities with the university’s priorities and contribute actively to its growth.
The Vice-Chancellor identified eight strategic pillars guiding her administration: academic excellence and quality assurance; research, innovation and global visibility; financial sustainability; infrastructure and digital transformation; staff welfare; student welfare and employability; governance and integrity; and community engagement.
She explained that the pillars would provide a coordinated framework for improving university operations, strengthening research and innovation, and enhancing overall institutional performance.
The visits covered the Faculties of Science, Law, Arts, Education, Management Sciences, Social Sciences, Computing and Information Technology, and Communication and Media Studies, as well as the Postgraduate School, other specialised schools and the LASU Innovation Hub.
The engagements form part of Badejo’s efforts to promote inclusive leadership, strengthen stakeholder relations and foster a shared vision for the university’s development.
