BREAKING: Hamzat to unveil Lagos governorship manifesto Friday

The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, will unveil his manifesto for the 2027 governorship election on Friday, October 30, 2026, as he hopes to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The disclosure was made by the Director-General of the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, at the PBAT-KOH Press Conference in Ikeja, Lagos. He said the manifesto would be unveiled at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts (Formerly National Arts Theatre).
According to the director-general, the manifesto will be anchored on inclusivity and continuity, outlining Hamzat’s vision and policy priorities for Lagos State ahead of the 2027 election.
Addressing concerns about voter apathy and low turnout, he said Hamzat was engaging residents at the grassroots and publicising his plans to encourage wider participation. He added that the campaign was adopting new strategies, including decentralising its activities across the state to strengthen its reach.
On waste management, the director-general said the state planned to deploy more than 150 additional trucks to improve refuse collection and disposal. He acknowledged that existing infrastructure was under pressure, partly because of Lagos’ growing population and the continued influx of people into the state.
He also addressed the APC’s loss in Lagos during the 2023 presidential election, when Labour Party candidate Peter Obi defeated President Bola Tinubu in the state. The director-general said the party was intensifying its mobilisation efforts to avoid a repeat of the outcome in 2027.
He expressed confidence in the campaign’s prospects, declaring that the “tiger has woken up,” while setting a target of three million votes for the party in Lagos. He said the campaign was working to strengthen its grassroots structures and improve voter engagement ahead of the elections.
Notable personalities at the press conference included Gboyega Akosile, the special assistant to Governor Sanwo-Olu on Media and Publicity, Gbenga Omotoso, the Lagos State commissioner for Information and Strategy, and Hon. Rasaq Ajala, alongside other party stakeholders.
