2027: ‘My opponents created hunger, poverty’ — Tinubu tells Nigerians

President Bola Tinubu has accused opposition parties of creating the hunger and poverty they now criticise his administration over, insisting that his government is working to address the challenges.

Tinubu spoke on Saturday at the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign for the 2027 general election at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna State.

“I hear my opponents talking about hunger and poverty. Who created it? They did! They created the hunger, and they created the poverty. We are the ones working to eradicate it,” the President said.

Tinubu, who is seeking re-election in 2027, said his second term would focus on delivering prosperity, continuity, progress and national development.

“I am here to seek your mandate for a second term, to keep our promise of prosperity, continuity, progress, and national development,” he said.

The President also dismissed the criticisms of opposition parties, accusing them of having nothing to offer Nigerians other than what he described as a return to past policies.

“Our opponents are angry because of their failures. They have nothing to offer you except backpedaling, whereas we bring prosperity, consistency, growth, recovery, and opportunity,” he said.

Tinubu urged Nigerians to vote massively for him in the 2027 presidential election, while calling for support for APC candidates contesting governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and state House of Assembly seats.

“It is a promise: come January 16, 2027, you must go out massively to re-elect me. APC all the way!” he said.
