The Oyo State Government has opened registration for the 2025/2026 General Bursary Awards for eligible final-year students who are indigenes of the state and studying in public tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

The Oyo State Scholarship Board announced that the online registration opened on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, and will close on Monday, November 2, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. West Africa Time. Eligible students have been advised to submit their applications before the deadline through the official portal, https://bursary.oyostate.gov.ng/2026/, or the direct application link, https://app.bursary.oyostate.gov.ng/bursary/apply.

The bursary scheme is designed to provide financial assistance to eligible final-year students as they complete their academic programmes. It covers university undergraduates, Higher National Diploma and National Certificate in Education students, as well as those enrolled in clinical, aviation and maritime programmes. However, final-year law students are excluded from the general bursary award.

To qualify, applicants must be indigenes of Oyo State, enrolled in a Nigerian public tertiary institution and studying on a full-time basis in their final year. Students attending private institutions or studying outside Nigeria are not eligible for the award. Prospective applicants have therefore been urged to confirm that they meet the requirements before beginning the registration process.

Applicants are also required to upload digital copies of their supporting documents, including an admission letter, a Local Government Identification Letter, a current student registration or course form endorsed by the Head of Department, a recent passport photograph and valid commercial bank account details belonging to the applicant. Proof of membership of the Federation of Oyo State Student Union (FOSSU) is also required, while students who are not registered members can visit https://www.fossu.com.ng/register to begin the process.

To apply, eligible students should visit the official bursary portal, select the application option and complete the online form with their personal details, local government area of origin, institution, course of study and other required information. They must then upload the supporting documents, review their entries for accuracy and submit the form. Applicants are advised to save their submission confirmation and application reference number for future enquiries and updates.

The Scholarship Board has warned that late applications will not be accepted after the portal closes on November 2, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Applicants have consequently been encouraged to begin their registration early, ensure that their documents are complete and provide accurate information that matches their supporting records. They are also advised to monitor the official portal for further information about the application process and subsequent updates.
