Anxiety in Ondo community after three-year-old boy disappears

Tension has gripped residents of Ode-Irele in Irele LGA of Ondo State following the mysterious disappearance of a three-year-old boy, Adeola Olayemi.

The toddler, said to be a pupil of a private nursery and primary school in the community, reportedly vanished under unclear circumstances, leaving his family and residents worried.

Sources said the child lived with his grandmother on Gbeleju Street before he suddenly went missing last week.

A family source disclosed that the grandmother allegedly hosted a female visitor in her home prior Olayemi’s disappearance.

“The woman later disappeared alongside the child, and nobody has seen them since then,” the source said.

The matter has subsequently been reported at the Irele Police Division, leading to the arrest of the 64-year-old grandmother and two neighbours for questioning.

A family member, Michael Obatuga, described the incident as painful, saying all efforts to locate the missing child had proved unsuccessful. “Adeola is a cheerful and lovable boy. The family is devastated over his disappearance,” he said.

The spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, confirmed the incident, saying two suspects had been arrested. “Detectives have intensified efforts to rescue the child and unravel the circumstances surrounding the case,” he stated.
