APC candidate Olatunji decries low voter turnout in Ibadan by-election

By Adejayan Gbenga –
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the Ibadan North Federal Constituency by-election, Hon. Adewale Olatunji Murphy, has expressed concern over the low turnout of voters at his polling unit.
Olatunji, who spoke after casting his vote at Polling Unit 27, Ward 10, behind the Housing Police Station in Bodija, Ibadan, described voter apathy as a threat to democracy.
“Yes, we have what we call voter apathy, and this is not good for our democracy. I urge eligible voters to come out en masse to perform their civic responsibility,” he said.
The APC candidate stressed that participation in the electoral process should not be seen as the responsibility of one party alone, but as a duty owed by the people to themselves.
“This is not about one party; it is about the people. If you are sending us out to represent you, then your duty is also here,” he added.
The Ibadan North by-election is being conducted across the 12 wards of the federal constituency to fill the seat left vacant by the death of Hon. Musliudeen Olaide Akinremi in 2024.
