APC remains peaceful political party, says Oyintiloye

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has described the party as a peaceful political organisation and urged political actors and other stakeholders in Osun State to shun violence ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

Speaking at an empowerment programme for informal workers at his campaign office in his country home in Ibokun, Obokun Local Government Area, Oyintiloye urged stakeholders and residents to promote peace, tolerance and responsible political engagement before, during and after the election.

The programme attracted informal workers, including barbers, hairdressers, fumigators, welders, textile workers, members of the National Union of Tailors and Electrical Workers, market men and women, commercial motorcyclists and members of the Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association.

Also participating were members of non-indigenous communities, including the Igede, Idoma and Tiv communities from Benue State residing in Obokun Local Government Area.

Oyintiloye said the initiative was part of his efforts to support hardworking residents and strengthen grassroots participation in governance, particularly among people whose livelihoods depend on their businesses and skills.

He urged the beneficiaries to return to their communities and support the APC candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, assuring them that their support would translate into meaningful dividends of governance.

Furthermore, the former lawmaker said an Oyebamiji-led administration would prioritise inclusive governance, economic empowerment, skills development and improved opportunities for people in the informal sector.

Reacting, a community leader, Bishop Michael Adewale, commended the initiative as a demonstration of grassroots-oriented politics, while Comrade Tijani Bello, who spoke on behalf of the artisans and other informal workers, expressed appreciation for the gesture extended to them during the civic engagement programme led by Oyintiloye.
