APM rejects coalition, accuses Aregbesola of ruining Osun

The Osun State chapter of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has rejected the emerging political coalition led by some former and current political leaders, questioning the credibility of those involved.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the APM State Chairman, Hon. Adewale Adebayo, specifically criticised former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, accusing him of leaving behind a legacy of financial and structural decay.

Adebayo alleged that Aregbesola, who served as commissioner, governor, and minister under the All Progressives Congress (APC), lived off taxpayers’ money throughout his public career.

He claimed Aregbesola owed civil servants 18 months’ salary, plunged the state into over N500 billion debt, and failed to pay workers despite receiving bailout funds from the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

“Aregbesola who is now canvassing for better governance nurtured Osun State into a failed state during his 8-year tenure,” Adebayo said. “He made the APC unelectable among civil servants.”

The APM chairman also condemned Aregbesola’s educational reforms, particularly the N16 billion spent on constructing 11 mega schools, which he said are now reportedly near collapse.

He further alleged that Aregbesola’s administration failed to remit contributory pension deductions to workers’ retirement accounts, despite regular salary deductions.

Adebayo concluded by calling on Nigerians to reject alliances led by failed politicians, urging them instead to support the APM for a more credible path to good governance.
