The Association of Nigerian Artisans and Technicians (ASNAT) has announced the second edition of the Nigerian Artisans and Technicians Exhibition Fair (NATEF), scheduled for September 23–27 at the Velodrome, National Stadium, Abuja. The event aims to promote skill development, craftsmanship, national unity, and mutual acceptance.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, ASNAT’s National Coordinator, Comrade Adeshina Akinyemi, described the five-day exhibition as a working event featuring onsite service delivery, artisans’ products, skills displays, workshops, hands-on training, networking opportunities, and cultural showcases. The fair will highlight Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity and foster business opportunities.
Akinyemi emphasized that NATEF 2025 is designed to stimulate economic growth by promoting local production and supporting artisans nationwide. He envisions the fair as an annual tourism event attracting international visitors to appreciate the exceptional skills of Nigerian artisans.
He urged state governors, lawmakers, and other stakeholders to support the event by sponsoring local artisans and technicians. The fair will also include raffle draws with unique prizes and live performances from musical groups and cultural troupes.
Highlighting ASNAT’s contribution to national development, Akinyemi revealed collaboration with the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (PICNG). During the exhibition, over 100 petrol-powered vehicles will be converted to CNG free of charge. Additionally, two distinguished Nigerians will be honored for their exceptional support for artisans and technicians.
The National Lady President of ASNAT, Mrs. Jaiyeola Olatunji, encouraged Nigerian women to pursue trades and skills, even in traditionally male-dominated fields. She stressed that women should overcome cultural limitations and contribute meaningfully to the country’s socio-economic growth.
Finally, ASNAT’s National Secretary, Mr. Bari Moses, described the fair as more than an exhibition but a national call to recognize the vital contributions of artisans and technicians to Nigeria’s economy. He invited artisans, technicians, development partners, and other stakeholders to participate and support the event.
