Asogwa attributes Enugu North by-election victory to APC’s development projects

Senator-elect for Enugu North Senatorial District, Chief Ikeje Asogwa, has attributed his victory in Saturday’s by-election to what he described as the visible impact of development projects executed by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration in the state.

Asogwa, who emerged winner of the poll and is set to complete the tenure of late Senator Okey Ezea, spoke on Tuesday after a visit to Governor Peter Mbah at the Government House in Enugu.

He said the party’s improved performance in the senatorial district reflected growing public confidence in the administration, noting that residents could now see tangible evidence of governance and infrastructure development across the state.

“What has changed is performance. You could see the drastic improvement in the results from what happened in the 2023 elections and what happened last Saturday. The people have seen that this administration is working tirelessly. What they had in 2023 was a laudable vision and promises, but today the results are there, very glaring and scattered across all 102 wards in the senatorial zone,” he said.

The senator-elect added that the level of development recorded across the state encouraged voters to support the APC in large numbers during the by-election.

Asogwa thanked constituents for the confidence reposed in him and for their massive turnout during the election, pledging to provide inclusive representation and work with stakeholders to advance development across the district.

He said his tenure would focus on projects and programmes that directly impact the welfare of residents, with particular emphasis on youth empowerment, infrastructure, education and healthcare.

“We have a lot of things ranging from infrastructural development to improving the education sector, improving the health sector and creating more employment opportunities for our people, especially the youth. We have great plans and definitely we are going to achieve them as fast as possible,” he assured.
