Nigerian-American actress and television host, Osas Ighodaro, has secured a lead role in the upcoming Nolly-Bollywood micro-drama series, Imported Bahu, as the official trailer was released ahead of its premiere.

The series was unveiled on Monday by Executive Producer, Hamisha Daryani Ahuja, and features Ighodaro alongside Bollywood actor and model Rajniesh Duggall in a story centred on love, family secrets and a cross-cultural relationship.

Announcing the production via Instagram, Ahuja described Imported Bahu as the first vertical micro-drama series from her production company, Forever 7 Entertainment.

She wrote: “For months, we’ve been keeping a secret. Today, we’re finally sharing it. Introducing Imported Bahu — Forever 7 Entertainment’s first vertical micro-drama series. A story of love, family, secrets and one imported bahu who turns everything upside down.”

The series is scheduled to premiere on July 2, 2026, and will stream exclusively on LebaraPlay, described as Africa’s first telecom-owned micro-drama platform. Ahuja, known for cross-cultural productions such as Namaste Wahala and Postcards, said the new project reinforces her commitment to fostering collaborations between Nollywood and Bollywood through culturally blended storytelling.

According to the trailer, the story follows Bahu Mehra, a wealthy Indian man who travels abroad and returns home with a Nigerian wife, Zara Ogun, played by Ighodaro. His family, who expected him to return with gifts from abroad, disapproves of the relationship, creating tension and conflict within the household.

Zara Ogun, portrayed as a bold and confident multimillionaire fashion entrepreneur, navigates family rejection while fighting to preserve her marriage.

Ighodaro is a Nigerian-American actress, television host and beauty queen who won the 2010 Miss Black USA Pageant. She is also the founder of the Joyful Joy Foundation, a charity focused on malaria awareness and fundraising. She emerged as the highest-grossing Nollywood actress in 2018 and won the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA) for Best Actress in 2022 for Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story and in 2023 for Man of God.
