Atiku seeks Gbajabiamila’s suspension over bribery allegation, demands probe

Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has called for the suspension of the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, over allegations that he received a N400 million bribe, urging President Bola Tinubu to order an independent investigation into the matter.

In a statement issued by the Atiku Media Office on Tuesday, Atiku said the allegations made by Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, Director General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), were too serious to ignore.

He argued that Gbajabiamila’s reported claim that the PFIPC does not exist had only raised further questions about the credibility of the 2026 national budget.

According to Atiku, “How can you allocate N27.4 billion in the budget to a government agency that doesn’t exist without leaving more questions than answers?”

He added that the Chief of Staff’s explanation had created more problems for the government rather than resolving the controversy.

“Allocating N27.4 billion to an agency that doesn’t exist puts question marks on the credibility of the entire 2026 national budget,” he said.

The former vice president described the alleged budgetary irregularity as a national scandal that should not be dismissed with what he called weak explanations.

“This alleged colossal budgetary fraud cannot be swept under the carpet by weak and unconvincing explanations by the Chief of Staff,” Atiku stated.
