NDC, Peter Obi; Whither!, by Kola Amzat
In his innermost mind, Mr. Peter Obi is well aware of the fact that he has no chance whatsoever as far as the 2027 presidential duel is concerned.
Just as he was roundly overwhelmed in the 2023 polls, of course, he’s aware that he wouldn’t escape another round of crushing defeat if he ever makes it to the ballot paper for the forthcoming polls.
However, his desires to continue to be politically relevant wouldn’t dissuade him. He wants to continually hug the limelight.
Of course, his flash in the pan electoral outing during the 2023 contest when he shamefully and recklessly anchored his electioneering campaign on religious sentiments and ethnicity is somehow emboldening and fortifying his belief that, maybe providence could smile on.
But, Nigerians are wiser and discerning enough that it would be catastrophic and disastrous to hand over their fates onto the hands of the self-professed leader who found it absolutely difficult to record any significant impact in Anambra state for eight years his tenure endured, where he eventually left on his trail humongous debt of about ₦70 billion for his successor to continue to contend with.
In his state of naivety and insensitiveness, he has failed to realize that it’s practically impossible to square up with a president whose presently in dominant control of 31 states, including FCT administration with all the governors and Minister in charge, vigorously rooting and canvassing support of Nigerians for his re-election bid.
Peter Obi has refused to acknowledge that about 89 distinguished senators and more than 280 House of Reps members in the fold of the ruling party are vigorously mobilizing the support of millions of Nigerians in their senatorial districts and federal constituencies respectively for the president, as well as their respective electoral advantages.
Maybe, the former governor of Anambra state is totally oblivious of the fact the president has attracted nationwide goodwill and incredible mileage consequent upon his multifaceted developmental forays spanning infrastructures (roads, rail and ports), agricultures, education, healthcare, housing and even, security, the most challenged.
The self-confessed political trader appears not conscious of the tremendous mileage and accolades Tinubu has garnered on account of his audacious move in the removal of fuel subsidies, the unification of exchange rates, as well as tax reforms that have all combined together to cause remarkable improvement in public finances, huge monthly allocation of funds to states and local government authorities, a fantastic development aimed at precipitating infrastructural developments in their various jurisdictions, increasing investor confidence & trust in the nation economy with ultimate effect in exponential growth in the market capitalization rising dramatically when compared to the position it was, pre-Tinubu era.
Refusal to acknowledge several milestones aforementioned and unprecedented goodwill the government has garnered over the last years from Nigerians is what has been the DRIVING FORCE behind Peter Obi jumping from one party to another desperately looking for platform to deploy for the purpose of continual spreading of his mischievous gospel rooted in falsehood, lies, propaganda, hatred, strife, ethnicity and religious sentiments.
Nigerians would vividly recollect that in recent times, the 2023 LP presidential candidate has been hell-bent in whipping unnecessary sentiments for the purpose of inciting Nigerians against the government with very sensitive and provocative pronouncements on why Nnamdi Kanu shouldn’t be in jail despite several atrocities he committed onto humanity, especially bothering on his murderous and very violent incitement onto the hapless of South East zone; his mischievous declaration that if elected, he would be willing to negotiate with banditry and insurgent groups-an outdated, jaded, archaic and outrageous model that would not only further embolden the banditry groups, but continually subject Nigerian people to human carnage, maiming, trepidation and perpetual fear.
It was the same Obi who recently triggered national outrage when he submitted that the president should resign, citing economic, security and socio-political challenges, pretending to be unconscious of unprecedented efforts the government has made in combating the scourge of insecurity with respect to Trillions of Naira the government has deployed and still deploying to acquire modern and sophisticated armory equip security teams, as well the collaboration with all-mighty United States for the same purpose. He also mischievously refused to acknowledge multifaceted reforms of the administration, particularly with reference to tax reforms, educational funds, social investment schemes, huge allocations to state and local government authorities for the purpose of causing grassroots developments in all facets, and ultimately ensure the wellbeing of generality of Nigerians.
The crux of this Piece: what remains for Peter Obi now that the fringe party he takes refuge in, alongside Rabiu Kwankwaso-his co traveler, for the continuation of spreading message of hatred, falsehood and blatant lies has been adjudged to have been REGISTERED ERROR and the registration is on the THRESHOLD OF BEEN WITHDRAWN, a development that would strike out NDC and all its candidates, including Peter Obi from ballot during the forthcoming polls?
Indeed, the Lokoja Federal High Court has ordered that the registration of the party must be withdrawn: what INEC is waiting for is Certified True Copy (CTC) of the court to ultimately effect the judgment.
Meanwhile, the pronouncement of NDC National Leader, Seriake Dickson that the Lokoja Federal High Court REVERSING an earlier order directing INEC to register the party as lacking legal merit,is simply SELF-SERVING, FRAUDULENT, PROVOCATIVE AND SPURIOUS.
Seriake Dickson as Lawyer should recognize that he who goes to equity should come with a clean hand.
No one should be under any illusion that nothing whatsoever could be built on anything fraudulent.
It’s been established by the Lokoja Court that the Logo relied on by the NDC to obtain REGISTRATION ORDER indeed belongs to Peace Movement Party (PMP) and was stolen by NDC for the purpose of the party registration.
The fact the PMP is an unregistered Association as claimed by Dickson is IMMATERIAL, IRRELEVANT & INEXCUSABLE.
In-fact, this is enough reason for the court of law to prosecute the NDC leadership hierarchy for converting unto itself, another association’s asset.
Senator Dickson’s claims that PMP was neither amongst the 171 associations that applied for registration in 2025, nor was it amongst the 25 associations shortlisted for registration is self-indicting and unbecoming of a leader who was a member of House of Reps, governor of Bayelsa for eight solid years and presently, distinguished senator of the federal republic.
It’s crystal clear that with Seriake Dickson and his ilk, this country would not move forward.
Without much ado, INEC must proceed forthwith to DEREGISTER the party, now that Certified True Copy (CTC) of the adjudicating court is reportedly out.
It’s when this is achieved that normalcy and orderliness would have been deemed to restore to the nation’s democratic order and electoral process.
It’s when this is done that credibility, integrity and more importantly, reputation of the court as the last hope of common man would have been deemed to be upheld.
The vociferous voices emanating from the opposition camps that the court order is been sponsored by the ruling party to witch hunt ADC, with the aim and objective to halt their candidates from participating in the forthcoming polls is BALDERDASH, CHILDISH, PUERILE, AMATEURISH, PEDESTRIAN and simply a DISTRACTION.
Finally, this writer needs to re-emphasize to the NDC leadership hierarchy that they would do well by allowing sleeping dogs to lie by accepting their fate, move on and stop laying the blame of their travail at the door step of anyone.
What concerns the ruling party in their show of shame? Was it the ruling party that directed them to go and steal other Association’s Logo?
Common! They should please stay off this!
