Authorities suspend male students for allegedly molesting female teacher

Aquinas College in Akure, Ondo State, has suspended two male students indefinitely for allegedly molesting a female teacher during school hours.

The incident reportedly occurred as the teacher attempted to enter her classroom.

According to a letter by a source who requested anonymity, about 30 students were allegedly involved. The source described the act as “a coordinated, brutal and criminal violation.”

“Aggressively groped on her breasts and buttocks,” the source added, noting that the experience left the teacher traumatised and raised concerns about student behaviour.

The letter further criticised the school’s handling of the matter, warning that inaction could encourage repeated offences and highlighting the broader safety risks for female teachers.

In response, Principal Tai-Adebowale Adelusi denied that any such incident occurred, saying only a disciplinary situation had occurred where a student’s hand “allegedly touched the teacher unintentionally.”

“The teacher wanted to cane the student who came from another class after she had sent them out of the class, and in the process, two of the students’ hands touched her unintentionally.

When the case was reported, the school summoned their fathers, and they came.

“The following day, the school’s disciplinary committee recommended the indefinite suspension of the two students, and they were also punished publicly on the assembly ground,” he said.
