Bayo Adelabu dumps APC

By Richard Thomas, Ibadan

Former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Oloye Adebayo Adelabu has dumped the party.

Adelabu on Sunday announced his decision to dump the APC at a press conference held at his campaign office in Jericho, Ibadan

It would be recalled that Oloye Adelabu, a former deputy governor at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) polled 327 votes to emerge second at the APC primaries held on Friday at the Liberty Stadium, Ibadan.

Adelabu, while addressing members of his Mandate group, said the governorship primary lacked merit and was not credible nor transparent, hence his decision to leave the party.

He promised to disclose his next move after due consultations.

“I appreciate your love and support for me. Many of you risked your lives and sacrificed your pleasure for me and the progress of our dear state.

“I received so many comments and text messages from some people that I should foment trouble in order to disrupt the election at the Liberty Stadium but I told the people that I will not risk or put the lives of innocent souls in endanger because of my own interest and ambition,” he said.

Oloye Adelabu, fondly addressed as Penkelemesi expressed confidence that he will dislodge Governor Seyi Makinde at the polls come 2023.
