Bode George urges Delta Governor to resign over defection to APC

Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has called on Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, to resign following his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

George said the PDP provided the platform that enabled Oborevwori to emerge victorious in the 2023 governorship election and that his departure to APC was unacceptable.

“I am shell-shocked,” George said, criticizing the APC as being “dictatorially controlled” by President Bola Tinubu and Abdullahi Ganduje. He warned Deltans not to follow the governor, stressing that Delta has been a PDP stronghold since 1999.

He also alleged that PDP governors were being coerced into defecting through the use of state instruments. George emphasized that Oborevwori’s mandate was given by the PDP and should therefore be relinquished.

“Attempts to turn Nigeria into a one-party state will fail,” he declared, questioning the value APC has added to governance since 2015.
