BREAKING: Court orders Kano Govt to pay Ado Bayero N10m compensation

A Federal High Court in Kano has awarded N10 million in compensation to deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero.
The compensation was granted following an application against the order for his arrest and eviction from the palace.
Ado Bayero was dethroned by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in May and given a 48-hour notice to cede office.
However, Ado Bayero, who was out of Kano when the order was delivered, returned and took up residence in the little palace at Nasarawa.
The deposed emir challenged the governor’s decision in court, requesting that the governor’s act, which dethroned him and reinstated Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II, be declared void by the court.
Ruling on the matter, Justice Simon Amobeda, declared that his court was authorised to consider and deliberate on the application concerning the enforcement of basic rights.
Additionally, he ruled that Ado Bayero is free to travel and reside in Kano and anywhere in Nigeria, as long as he possesses the necessary legal rights.
