BREAKING: Ex-Ondo deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi, returns to APC
By Boye Oyeyemi –
Former Ondo State Deputy Governor and the immediate past governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Agboola Ajayi, has defected back to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ajayi formally rejoined the APC on Tuesday at Apoi Ward 2, Kiribo, in Ese Odo Local Government Area of the state.
He said his decision was driven by a desire to contribute to the party’s growth and support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Ajayi also said his return was aimed at backing the EASE Agenda of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to him, political disagreements should not override the larger national interest, noting that reconciliation was necessary for progress.
He commended Tinubu for what he described as bold economic reforms, saying the policies had laid a solid foundation for sustainable development.
Ajayi urged party members to rally behind Aiyedatiwa to strengthen governance and ensure continuity in the state.
Reacting, Aiyedatiwa described Ajayi’s return as a major boost for the APC, noting that his experience and grassroots strength would enhance the party’s prospects.
The state APC chairman, Ade Adetimehin, also welcomed Ajayi, saying his return had further united and strengthened the party ahead of future elections.
