The Ekiti State Government has approved the construction and equipping of three new general hospitals as part of efforts to expand access to quality healthcare across the state.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Oyebanji Filani, disclosed that the facilities would be located in Awo-Ekiti, Ikogosi-Ekiti and Ipao-Ekiti.

He spoke on Saturday in Ipao-Ekiti, Ajoni Local Council Development Area, while inspecting the site designated for the proposed general hospital.

Filani said the approval reflected the commitment of Governor Biodun Oyebanji to strengthening the state’s health sector and improving service delivery.

According to the commissioner, the Ipao-Ekiti hospital was strategically positioned to serve communities with high economic and agro-processing activities.

He explained that the new hospitals were part of broader reforms aimed at expanding secondary healthcare services and easing pressure on existing facilities.

Filani assured that the initiative would bring medical services closer to residents while improving healthcare outcomes across the state.

Community leaders at the inspection commended the state government for prioritising projects that would enhance access to healthcare and improve the wellbeing of residents.
