BREAKING: Obasa, Lagos Assembly members meet Tinubu in State House Abuja

By Kunle Sanni

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, accompanied by other assembly members, has arrived at the State House in Abuja.

Our reporter observed that they arrived at the Presidential Villa at approximately 2:50 PM on Wednesday.

Their visit comes in the wake of significant leadership changes within the Lagos State House of Assembly.

In January 2025, Obasa was impeached by a two-thirds majority of the House members while he was on holiday in the United States over allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office.

Following his impeachment, Mojisola Meranda was elected as the new Speaker, becoming the first female to hold the position in Lagos State.

However, on March 3, 2025, Meranda resigned from her role as Speaker, paving the way for Obasa’s reinstatement.

This development was reportedly facilitated by the Nigerian federal government, aiming to resolve the leadership crisis within the Lagos State House of Assembly. Obasa’s return to the position occurred 49 days after his initial impeachment.
