CAF annuls Edo Queens’ shootout win, orders final to resume

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has annulled Edo Queens’ 4-1 penalty-shootout victory over Ghanaian side Ampem Darkoa Ladies in the WAFU Zone B qualifying final for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.

In a ruling dated September 26, 2026, CAF’s Organising Committee for Women’s Football ordered the final to resume from the start of extra time, with the score remaining 2-2.

The September 5 final in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, ended 2-2 after 90 minutes, but the match went straight to penalties instead of the required two 15-minute periods of extra time. Edo Queens won the shootout 4-1.

CAF said the error resulted from an administrative instruction and was not the fault of either club.

Ampem Darkoa had protested the decision and requested either a replay or a resumption from 2-2. CAF rejected a full replay, ruling that the 90 minutes already played remained valid.

The teams will now play 30 minutes of extra time, with a fresh penalty shootout if the scores remain level. WAFU Zone B will determine the date, kick-off time and venue for the continuation.

The winner will secure the WAFU Zone B qualification ticket for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League final tournament.
