Flamingos thrash Togo 4-0 to win WAFU B cup

Nigeria’s Flamingos completed their WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup campaign on Sunday with a 4-0 final victory over Togo at the INPHB Centre in Côte d’Ivoire.

The win capped a perfect tournament, with Nigeria claiming five victories.

The Flamingos started brightly, winning their first corner in the eighth minute. Oluwakemi Adegbuyi went close two minutes later before helping Nigeria earn a penalty in the 15th minute. Captain Harmony Chidi converted to give Nigeria the lead.

Nigeria continued to dominate and won another penalty after Adegbuyi again played a key role. Chidi converted once more to complete her brace before half-time.

Togo tried to respond after the restart, but Nigeria remained in control. Kaosarat Akanji and Oluebube Umejiaku were introduced in the 55th minute, and Umejiaku made an immediate impact with an outstanding strike in the 67th minute to make it 3-0.

Adegbuyi completed the scoring in the 90th minute, capping an impressive individual performance.

The final whistle confirmed Nigeria’s commanding victory and their fifth consecutive win of the tournament.
