CDS Musa reaffirms military’s resolve to end insurgency in North-East

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has reassured Nigerians of the Armed Forces’ unwavering commitment to ending insurgency in the North-East region of the country.
General Musa gave the assurance during an operational visit to the Headquarters of Theatre Command, Joint Task Force, North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
During the visit, the CDS emphasized that additional platforms and combat enablers would soon be deployed to the Theatre to bolster troops’ operational efficiency.
He urged officers and men of the command to intensify their efforts against Boko Haram and other terrorist elements, stressing that the military remains the last hope of the nation in restoring peace and security.
“The nation is counting on you. You must remain tenacious and aggressive in your operations to rid the region of terrorism,” General Musa said.
Earlier, the Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, expressed gratitude to the CDS for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of the high regard the military high command places on the operations of OPHK.
As part of his visit, General Musa also inspected the scene of a recent explosion at Giwa Barracks. He was briefed by the Commander of the 47 Engineers Brigade, Brigadier General Abdul-Razak Kazeem, and commended the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) team for their swift response and efforts in securing the area.
The CDS, accompanied by Principal Staff Officers from Defence and Services Headquarters, reiterated the importance of discipline and teamwork in combating insurgency. He assured troops of the necessary support and resources to execute their tasks effectively.
