PHOTO NEWS: NAPTIP, IOM partner to tackle Human trafficking

The Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Binta Adamu Bello, OON, has received the new Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Nigeria, Ms. Dimanche Sharon, at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
During the courtesy visit, Ms. Dimanche commended NAPTIP’s leadership in coordinating anti-human trafficking initiatives not only in Nigeria but across the Sub-Saharan African region. She praised the agency’s efforts in prevention, protection, and prosecution related to trafficking cases.
The IOM Chief pledged enhanced collaboration and stronger support for NAPTIP in the areas of victim protection, trafficking prevention, strategic partnerships, and effective prosecution of offenders.

In response, DG Bello expressed appreciation for the longstanding partnership between the two organizations and stressed the need to intensify public awareness campaigns. She noted that raising awareness is key to reducing vulnerability and preventing human trafficking in the country.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing joint efforts to combat human trafficking and safeguard the rights of victims.
