Chelle likely to retain Super Eagles lineup against Zimbabwe

Indications suggest that Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle may stick with the starting lineup that secured a 2-0 victory over Rwanda in Kigali for Tuesday’s must-win 2026 World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe in Uyo.

Victor Osimhen scored twice in the first half to help the Super Eagles defeat Rwanda and revive their World Cup qualifying campaign after a disappointing start.

Osimhen led the attack, supported by Ademola Lookman, with wingers Moses Simon and Samuel Chukwueze providing width.

Chukwueze, who struggled to find his best form in Rwanda and was later replaced by Raphael Onyedika, is expected to get another opportunity to impress.

Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi, who both played the full match in Kigali, are set to continue in midfield, while captain William Troost-Ekong will marshal the defense alongside fullbacks Bright Osayi-Samuel and Ola Aina, with Calvin Bassey partnering Ekong in central defense to shield goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.

Expected starting XI vs. Zimbabwe:

Nwabali – Ola Aina, Osayi-Samuel, Ekong (Captain), Bassey – Ndidi, Iwobi, Chukwueze, Moses Simon – Ademola Lookman, Osimhen.
