Court arraigns man for alleged stealing tomatoes in Ondo

A 27-year-old man, Femi Idogun, has been arraigned before an Akure Magistrate’s Court in Ondo State for allegedly stealing tomatoes valued at N315,000.

Idogun was brought before Magistrate T.G. Alphonso on a one-count charge of stealing.

The prosecution alleged that the defendant committed the offence on August 16, 2026, at about 11am at Pelu Community, Oke-Aro, Akure, within the jurisdiction of the court.

Police prosecutor, Folasade Adesuyi, told the court that Idogun allegedly stole the tomatoes belonging to one Ajah Christianah.

According to the prosecutor, the alleged offence contravened Sections 383 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. I, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

Idogun pleaded not guilty to the charge, prompting the prosecution to request an adjournment to enable it prepare its three witnesses for trial.

The defence counsel, C.O. Falana, urged the court to grant the defendant bail on liberal terms.

In her ruling, Magistrate Alphonso granted Idogun bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until September 28, 2026, for further hearing.
