Deeper Life started using TV, social media to correct world’s evil – Kumuyi

General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor W.F. Kumuyi says the church decided to adopt the use of television and social media platforms because it wanted to correct the evil being done with it.

Kumuyi spoke during the church’s crusade at Jalingo, Taraba State.

The church had been known to ban its members from using the TV because of the immorality it promotes.

But in a video posted on Facebook by the Ekiti State chapter of the church on Sunday, Kumuyi said the church needed to wake up and use these channels to propagate the gospel.

He said the world had beaten the church to it by using these means to spread evil and now it was the church’s turn to take control of the digital space.

“The church has been asleep, when radio began some years ago and people didn’t understand how voice will be coming out from the radio. So, the church at that time said no, we cannot use radio, there is something there that is magical, there is something there that is demonic, voice coming out from just a gadget and we cannot see. And then when the church said no, the people of the world, those who are going from worse to worse they began to use the radio. Then, the church woke up and said see the people who are doing evil are using the radio.

“When television came, and somebody somewhere who has performed drama or whatever, they see him on the screen, the church said this is evil, these are the people, these are the last days and look at them bringing the pictures on the screen like that and whatever they are doing somewhere. And the church said no, we are not going to use that, and later they woke up and they are now using the television.

“Later, all these things came in, the internet came in and social media came in and there were some people that said no, as it was so it shall be and so it shall forever be. We are not going to worldliness, we are not going to use social media, we are not going to use internet. They said no, these are the people of the world and they are going from worse to worse. But now, the church is waking up and we will see that that thing is to spread the gospel, that thing is to make the word of God get everywhere. We will be wiser than the people of the world.

“I leant of some people, when the airplanes came, they said they were not going to use airplane and they were riding on horses. The bicycle had come and they didn’t want to use that and they said God has given us two legs and if God has given us legs, why are we going to be using bicycles? Motorcycles came and they said no, car came, they said no. And then, when the airplane came, they said God has given us the land, he has not given us the space and so, all those people who are using airplane, they said they are worldly, they said they are going to go to hell, but now all those people, airplane has silenced them.

“The same thing, why are you the late comer? Why are you the last to use all these things that people are using to make the world worse? We are going to rise up! Anything at the disposal of people that are doing evil, we are going to take it away from them and we are going to use it for the propagation of the gospel.

“Let you no, no, no be changed to yes, yes, yes,” Kumuyi said.
