Publisher Dele Momodu has intervened in the ongoing crisis between Afrobeats star Davido and his first baby mama, Sophia Momodu, amid a child custody dispute.
The media personality disclosed this via his Instagram page on Thursday, noting that a Davido fan had approached him in Liberia to help resolve the custody issue between the musician and Sophia, who is his niece.
Dele Momodu stated that Davido is widely celebrated in Liberia, describing him as a “god of music” in the country, which he said prompted fans to make such requests. He added that efforts are ongoing behind the scenes, alongside other concerned parties, to settle the matter amicably.
He wrote:
“Here in Liberia, Davido is treated as the god of music. I’ve been visiting here for over two decades but this visit is different. I came to commiserate with my friend and sister, former Vice President H.E. Dr Jewel Howard-Taylor, on the passing of her only child, Charles Philip Neilson Taylor Jr.
“Since landing here, I have been inundated with messages from fans of David and ladies who love Sophia Momodu to bits. One of them is this fashion designer, @lorine.doe, who said I should step in and settle the quarrels.
“My dear sister, thanks so much. Nothing to worry about. Everything is going to be alright. We are working behind the scenes. Please keep everyone in your prayers.”
Davido and Sophia’s conflict recently escalated over the custody of their first daughter, Imade, prompting both parties to approach the court. Davido had earlier sought joint custody of Imade but later withdrew the case after Sophia’s lawyer referenced his late son, Ifeanyi, while questioning Imade’s safety under his care.
The comment reportedly angered the musician, who described it as unacceptable and criticised the lawyer as unprofessional.
