The Osun Amotekun Corps has assured residents of the state of adequate security before, during and after the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, urging citizens to go about the festivities without fear of harassment or security threats.
The Corps Commander, Dr Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, gave the assurance in a statement signed by the corps’ Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Abass, saying the corps had activated comprehensive security measures across the state to guarantee a peaceful and hitch-free celebration for residents and visitors.
Omoyele disclosed that about 500 operatives of the Osun Amotekun Corps had been strategically deployed to worship centres, markets, motor parks, major highways, recreational centres and other critical locations across the state to maintain law and order throughout the festive period.
He said the corps remained committed to the protection of lives and property and would continue to collaborate with other security agencies to strengthen surveillance across all local government areas of the state.
The Amotekun boss urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security operatives by providing timely and useful information capable of preventing criminal activities.
He urged citizens to report suspicious movements or security concerns to the nearest Amotekun office or other relevant security agencies.
While congratulating Muslim faithful on the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, Omoyele advised residents to celebrate responsibly and avoid actions capable of causing unrest or disrupting public peace.
He warned criminal elements and individuals planning to foment trouble during the celebration to steer clear of Osun State, stressing that the corps would not tolerate acts capable of undermining the peace and security being enjoyed in the state.
