The Ekiti State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded over 66,000 members in its ongoing electronic membership registration exercise within two weeks.

The coordinator of the exercise in the state, Mr Gold Adesola Adedayo, disclosed this on Monday in Ado-Ekiti while speaking with journalists.

Adedayo, who also serves as the Commissioner for Youth Development, said the figure was achieved since the exercise commenced across the 177 wards in the 16 local government areas.

He noted that the party would have registered more members but for early technical hitches that affected the process at the initial stage.

According to him, Ado Local Government Area currently leads the registration chart, having overtaken Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government, which initially topped the list.

The coordinator explained that the challenges encountered by registration agents had been resolved, expressing optimism that the numbers would rise significantly.

He urged party leaders and field agents to intensify mobilisation efforts, while encouraging prospective members to take advantage of the exercise ahead of the June 20 governorship election.
