A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has ordered the remand of a 61-year-old man, Cosmos Oluwafemi, over an alleged attempted murder.

Oluwafemi was brought before the court in connection with an alleged attack on Olawale Aderibigbe on Aug. 15, 2026, within the Iyin-Ekiti Magisterial District.

The prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that there were sufficient grounds to suspect Oluwafemi of committing the alleged offense.

According to Oriyomi, the alleged offense contravened Section 241 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021. He added that the police needed more time to complete their investigation.

Consequently, he urged the court to remand the defendant for 30 days, noting that the case file had been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

The defendant’s representative, Mr. Emmanuel Adedeji, made a plea on his client’s behalf. However, the court did not take Oluwafemi’s plea during the proceedings.

In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, ordered that Oluwafemi be remanded at the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Facility.

The court, therefore, adjourned the case until Sept. 25, 2026, for mention.
